Welcome to day 4 of the "Love yourself" challenge!
We already touched on fasting, energy, protecting your peace, and today is all about taking inventory.
What does that mean?!
It means I want you to take inventory of your life. A deep self-audit. Think about your current situation on a deeper level and peel back the layers.
Connect the dots between your mindset, your habits, your circle, and your current level of success. Ninety-nine percent of the time, they will always be aligned.
As Jim Rohn once said, "You are the average of the 5 people you speak to most." So I suggest you make sure those 5 people inspire you to be better. Ask yourself these questions about your circle:
- Do they challenge you?
- Do they support you?
- Do they inspire you?
- Do they hold you accountable?
- Do you learn from them, or are you doing all the teaching?
It's time to face your reality and look between the lines. Because in order for you to move up, there are some things you have to give up.
Write the names down of all of the people you speak to most. This might include co-workers, friends, even family members.
Next to their names write a "D" or an "E".
D = drain. This is for the people who drain your life.
E = energize. This is for the people who energize your life.
The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the relationships around you.
Surround yourself with engines, not anchors. The more "E's" you have in your life, the more growth and quality you will have in your life. This exercise is not only limited to people, it's also about your daily habits. It's about what you consume on a daily basis. The people we spend time with consistently, our daily habits, and the media we consume shape our belief system.
These things are all part of our mental diet. A diet that has the power to shape your life for the next 5 years and beyond.
As Aristotle once said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Therefore excellence is not a singular act, but a habit." With that in mind, take inventory of everything you do and everything you have consumed for the last two weeks:
- The way you spend your time by the hour. Workdays and weekends.
- Your mood throughout the day and what activities and people influence your mood for better or worse.
- The books you read.
- The podcasts you listen to.
- The Social media feeds you follow.
- The TV shows and news broadcasts you watch.
Are these behaviors and outlets building a life of excellence or mediocrity? Is it shaping a mentality that is creating the life you want for yourself or your family?
It might be a tough pill to swallow, but the sooner you take ownership of your reality, the quicker you can change it.
Take inventory and learn from today's challenge. It is one of the first steps you can take to change your life.
I am so proud of you for getting to this point. You are slowly breaking barriers with every step of this challenge.
