All you have to do is take the first step.
In life, it's easy to get caught up in the big picture. We stress about the journey instead of enjoying it, and more often than not, we never even move toward our destination at all. Don't worry about figuring everything out. You can plan forever, but let me tell you something—nothing will happen until you make it happen. You can obsess over a map until you've found the perfect route, but nothing will happen unless you start moving. Stop revising what you said you'd do.
Instead, do what you said you'd do.
Finding the perfect path is impossible. Once you get started, you're going to realize another path was smoother. Another path would have been absolutely gorgeous, and yet another path would have passed by some incredible restaurants. When you compare your muddy, cold, dark path with the grass on the other side of the fence, you're going to understand something crucial.
It's going to start raining, and you'll laugh to yourself, because you'll see that no amount of planning could have prepared you for your journey. No amount of stress could have stopped the rain from falling, but guess what? You're going to stand there in the rain smiling, because a little rain never hurt anyone. Sure—you might be able to reach your destination earlier in better weather. But at the end of the day, you're going to have travelled further and faster than you ever could have travelled if you'd wasted another day stressing over your map.
Build your vision. Stay true to your dreams, because if you can't do that, who will? There's no substitude for heart, and there's no way around commitment. One way or another, you have to find discipline, and you have to be consistent. Stop focusing on your failures, your followers, and your regrets. Instead, focus on what you can't count. Focus on what you can't measure. Measure your life by how far you've come—not how hard it was to get there. If you just opened your eyes, you'd smell the flowers in spite of yourself. You'd look at the sky and see the clouds clearing up, and your mind would be blown by the double rainbow all that rain created. If you can look up from your map for just a moment, you'll see that you were never lost at all. When you live your life day by day, step by step, incredible things will happen.
It all starts with you.
