Don't Accept Failure
Tonight I watched the NFL draft, and I remembered the night that I watched as everything I worked for came to one moment. My name wasn't called. In that moment, I made the decision that for the rest of my life, I was going to get the most out of my life. I wasn't going to go through another moment where my name wasn't called. Don't accept failure. You can keep pressing on. I don't want to look back on my life and think, "when things got too complicated, I threw in the towel, '' or "someone got in my way, so I threw in the towel."
There are so many times when it becomes easy to just accept what the world gives you or settle for what lands in your lap instead of fighting for more. You are always in control, and if you adopt that mindset, you can find things in your life that you need to rid yourself of. You can find bridges that you need to burn. That doesn't necessarily mean you have to rid yourself of people, but it may mean that. Everyone has something different that they need to sacrifice to stop settling for what the world gives them.
Your life doesn't only belong to you. If you have kids or a family, then you not only owe it to yourself, but to them as well to get the most out of your life. You owe it to them to find and provide that example because they look up to you.
Too often we allow for a failure to define us for years or even forever, but I REFUSE to let that be the end of my story. Those pains and trials are going to be a chapter or just a page in the story, but it will not be my end. You have to believe that there will be a better chapter. It's time to get committed to what you want in your life. If I let my NFL story be the end of my story, I wouldn't be here today. Time still moves on, the sun won't stop rising, and the moon won't stop, so why should you?
Don't surrender. Sometimes we surrender to fear or failure. Sometimes it's a death in the family or pressure, but I'm not concerned about that. I'm concerned that I make sure I am always turning that page. I will endure. I will persevere.
There's a higher purpose in your life than the pain that you're currently in. There's a better future for you than this. You don't have to believe your current story. You can build yourself a new one. You are a single choice away from a new beginning, and a commitment away from a better life. Start being committed to the rest of your life. I believe in you, and I believe in your power to change your story. There's a reason that you've been through everything and survived. It's time to stop being used by it, and start using it to benefit your future.
It all starts with you.
