Don't Believe Their Lies
You are your heart—not your past.
That message is truly special for me, which is why I'm sharing it with everyone out there today. The reason that message is so important to me is because it helped me change my life for the better. When I decided to stop living my life on repeat, I realized anything was possible. Once I'd sworn to myself that I'd never settle for less than I deserved again, my path seemed clearer than ever. Before I go into detail, I'd like to offer a quick disclaimer.
Not everyone is going to stay.
Often, growth means growing apart from people. Once you've become hard-set on the journey toward your best self, you'll quickly find that not everyone you trusted truly has your back. Not everyone you called a friend really had your best interests at heart, and not everyone special to you will even believe your change. The real ones will stick around, but not everyone will show support for you, either out of disbelief or jealousy.
At the end of the day, your choice is simple. At the end of the day, it'a a question of loyalty. Are you loyal to the fake friends, or are you loyal to your vision? Are you truly satisfied with settling for familiarity, or do you want something more? Are you too afraid to make that initial step forward, that first leap of faith in yourself, or are you so committed to your dreams that even falling flat on your face is something you're prepared to take?
Moving forward isn't easy.
The further you progress, the more people will try to remind you who you were. The closer to your best self that you become, the more people will try to convince you to stay in your past. The harder you try to change yourself better, the more the world will push back. Similar to the the earth's atmosphere, breaching the world's barriers requires an extreme amount of energy and dedication. Pushing through society's push-back isn't easy, but once you make it through and look back at where you came from, you'll thank your past self. You'll say to yourself, "Thank you for making those sacrifices," because you'll realize that every sacrifice you made paid off. Every failure became learning, and every pain became strength. Every loss became faith, and all of your doubts were defeated, one by one.
Move forward, even if you're uncertain. As you'll come to understand, uncertainty is the goal. Uncertainty is the absence of limitations, and while it might sound like a scary place, it's exactly where you need to be.
It all starts with you.
