As real as I can put this - there will be certain things that you will need to quit on in your life. There are certain things that you can not afford in your life to go back to, and you should know what those things are before anyone else does. At the same time, there are things in your life that you can not afford to quit on. That may be a friendship, relationship, a dream or passion, a child, or a goal.
Look at where we are right now in human history. There are so many businesses that are huge, and that means that they didn't quit. I know this because everything that is big now was once starting off small. They hit roadblocks, and people that didn't believe in them but even despite that, they never gave up. Now I want you to think about all the companies that aren't here. They may have had a better product, or better ideas, but the difference is that when they hit those same roadblocks, they threw their hands up and quit.
When times get hard and setbacks come, that should let you know that you are on the right track. If the peak is worth reaching, the climb is going to be hard. Some of my greatest successes came from the times I hit a wall and had to figure out how to push forward. When my career ended with the NFL, that felt like a big wall. It felt like the end of the road, but I didn't let that be the end of my story. In fact, it became the beginning of something far greater. Every trial, every setback is an opportunity to escape your tunnel vision and force yourself to look at your progress in another way.
It's time for you to commit to yourself. This passion you have, this relationship you are fighting for, this goal you are working towards, I want you to have an honest conversation with yourself and come to the conclusion that QUITTING IS NOT AN OPTION. No matter what.
Find role models that you look up to and remind yourself that they too are only people. They too ran into obstacles and had haters that told them it wasn't going to work but the only thing that put them above everyone else was that they refused to quit. Join the club, there's enough room for you to be someone who made it. Someone who conquered fear and doubt and against all odds became exactly what you knew you would become. All because quitting was not an option. Let me repeat that- quitting is not an option. Ya feel me? You want a solid relationship with your partner? Quitting is not an option. You want to be the next great podcaster? Quitting is not an option. You want to grow in your faith? Quitting is not an option. It's rehab time, let's get it.
It all starts with you.
