Don't let your life control your life.
What do I mean by that? In my own life, I've noticed that it's easy to let the negative side of things ruin perception and turn great mindsets into toxic ones. When we let life control our lives, we become slaves to all the wrong things. We become obsessed with fulfilling the dreams of others, and we let our own visions fall away. However, I'm here to tell you that there's a way to fix your mindset and reclaim your life.
If you can learn how to properly disconnect, you'll find the perspective you need whenever you need it.
I'll level with you—over the past month, I've been feeling overwhelmed. I haven't been overwhelmed by bad things—in fact, I've been overwhelmed by responsibility. Although that might sound like a positive part of my life, I allowed all my responsibility to break my routine. I began doing things I wouldn't normally do, and I paid the price for it. When you break your routine and stop doing all the little things that keep you moving through life, you feel absolutely terrible. Recently, I realized that I wasn't protecting my peace enough. I wasn't going out to hike, I wasn't praying or meditating enough, and as a result, I began to lose my clarity. I began to lose important parts of myself.
We often say, "I'll get back on it tomorrow." We keep saying this, and before we know it, tomorrow never comes. Your excuse today might be valid, but let me tell you something—at the end of the day, no one can reclaim your routine but you. No one can do what you have to do each day but yourself, so stop telling yourself lies about what you need to accomplish. Instead, it's time for you to prioritize your peace, because no one can be truly successful without preserving that aspect of their lives.
Far too often, we change our lives for the wrong reasons. We falsely believe that our realities are somehow going to disappear or change, when the truth couldn't be farther away. Actually, sticking to your plans and executing your vision will only make you stronger. It might seem tedious at times, and it might seem to keep us from certain opportunities. That's because both of those things are true.
Seeing your vision through will take longer than you think it will. You will have to dedicate time and energy to your goals, and as a result, you are going to miss out on other things. Every day, people give up their dreams, and that's something that truly breaks my heart. They might be extremely close to realizing their goals, but they put up their coats anyway and say, "I'm done. This is too hard, or this is taking too long." Trust me—your vision is worth it. You need to stay loyal to your dreams, because you're the only one who can.
It all starts with you.
