It’s not about running a thousand miles in a day, it’s about taking that first step. The truth is that nothing is going to change in your life until you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. When you get to that place you will make a change in your life. You’ll make a change that will stick. It will be real to you at a core level. Like I said at the start, it’s not about running a thousand miles in a day, it’s about taking that first step- and that first step can be whatever that means to you.
I want you to make a small commitment to yourself today. I want you to make a commitment to yourself that you will do one thing different this week and do it consistently. Maybe, for you, that’s meditating every morning when you get up. Maybe it’s going for a walk once a day or working out. Make time to read, or write if that brings you peace. Whatever it is, I want you to make a small commitment to yourself and stick to it. I know it’s easier said than done but when you choose to stop settling for less in the small ways, you learn that you can handle it in the big ways too. It’s a practice.
This is your journey, and it’s time for you to stop settling for less. I am saying these things because I care about you and your life. Refresh your perspective and ask God to help you do that so that you can see the lessons in the setbacks. You can learn to start seeing that. When you come to a road that is blocked off, you don’t just turn around and go home- you find a way around it. We all do, and it’s the same when it comes to your life. When the road that you are on comes to a stopping point and you can no longer continue that direction, you have the option of finding another route. There were many times for me when I would start feeling down and turn to my addictions or my vices. Until I said “no more.” When you shut down a road in your life it forces you to choose another route in your life. There’s nothing wrong with having anxiety or low points. Nothing wrong with wanting to self sooth. Addictions can be reprogrammed. So when I started to feel those low points, I changed what my answer to them was. I started to go outside for a run. I started to meditate or pray instead and I forced myself into better habits. I got sick and tired of being sick and tired, and so I stopped settling for less in my ability to process my low points. You can too.
It all starts with you.
