Have the Guts To Go For It
When you look at the greatest version of yourself, is that person afraid? No. Outside of your comfort zone is where your dreams are resting. You have to live outside of your comfort zone so much that you feel more comfortable when the odds are against you. Successful people don’t hang out in their comfort zones. Some of you have been hanging out in your comfort zone your whole life and now you are upset at the results.
What can you do right now to push you outside of your comfort zone? If you can’t think of something, I encourage you to try and start the hobby of running. Those of you who are in the habit of running know that it takes you out of your comfort zone and forces you to push yourself. There’s a point in running when you think you are at the end of the rope and if you push past that, you find that you have way more drive in you than you think you do. It’s important to challenge yourself.
Most people don’t go and challenge themselves because they’re afraid of the word “no.” The word “no” is just a word and it shouldn’t stop your life. If you don’t get enough “no’s” in your life then you probably aren’t making the right choices. If all you get is “yes” in your life then you are going to be stagnant. Don’t be afraid of “no’s.” Fear can’t survive where faith is present. Start having more faith in your life. A faithless life will not equal a faithful life. You have to practice faith. You have to practice uncomfortable situations so that you know you can handle it when the going get’s tough. Practicing faith in the little things will bring you the confidence needed for faith in the big things.
A “no” only means that person, place or thing wasn’t for you, but I guarantee that there is a “yes” waiting for you. I love door to door salesmen because they practice that grind. They practice the faith in taking on 7 “no’s” for every one “yes.” If you are to practice this in your life, you will recognize that “no” doesn’t sting as bad as you thought it does. You will learn that your “yes’s” hold more weight. Because you’ve earned them. Because you worked hard for them and you pushed past adversity for them.
To have the guts to go for something you have to have the guts to lose, often. The road to success if paved with the word “no.” Keep pushing no matter what. Don’t be afraid of the journey ahead, embrace it. Even the hard steps. You got this.
It all starts with you.
