Today I want you guys to prepare for a heavy message because I am about to lay one on y’all I can promise you that. Today I was taking a run past an old cemetery I used to visit a lot. I used to look at the tombstones and see all the different kinds of people that all lay together in the same plot of land under the same grass. Looking at what was written on the tombstones I could see that there were some people buried here that died at only two years old, while there were also people who had lived to be ninety-nine in the same place. There were black people buried here, white people buried here, hispanic, asian, you name it. I came to realize a pretty important truth when I would look at all of the diversity in this graveyard. I realized that death does not discriminate. Death is something that seeks us all out and one of these days it is going to find us.
What all that made me realize is that I do not have time. I will not always have time. If there is a change in my life then now is the time to make that change in my life. So the question I want to ask you guys right now in this moment is this: Are you living a life that you are truly proud of? Are you living a fulfilled life? Are you living an incomplete life? Here is the deal, y’all. The truth is that this place is filled with a lot of incompletion. There are so many “almosts” out there that never came to fruition because as a people we are so good at convincing ourselves that we will always have time so we create goals but we never get to them. We decide who we want to be but we never become that person. This world is filled with a lot of people who never acted on what was in their heart to do. Whether it was fear, whether it was judgment, whether it was uncertainty, whether it was the belief that they could get to it later, they let something stop them from acting on whatever it was that they wanted to do, and I do not want that to be you. There are people at the cemetery who didn’t live the life that they wanted to live. The difference is that their game of life is over, but yours is not.
So do not let anything set you back from achieving what you want to achieve in your life. If there is a goal you have been putting it off, then stop putting it off. No more excuses. Stop telling yourself that you will always have more time because you won’t. Don’t let your life be another almost. Push yourself to be greater. Push yourself to live a life of fulfillment.
It all starts with you.
