Loyalty can be a good thing. Loyalty can be noble and useful- if you are loyal to the right things. How many things in your life are holding you back right now? How many of those things are you fighting to hold on to because you are a loyal person? Loyal to the image you used to have for yourself. Loyal to the perception of you used to be. How many situations in your life do you continue to put yourself in because of your loyalty? How many relationships? How many bad habits are you loyal to?
When you are loyal to the wrong things you will continue to dive further into misery. Don’t let your loyalty to the wrong things run your life. I want you to close your eyes and picture your life if you continue to be loyal to these things that are holding you back. Where does it lead? Picture yourself in 10 years from now. Do you still want to be hanging around with the same crew? Do you still want to be chasing the same identity? Do you still want to view yourself the way that you did 10 years ago? What habits in your life are leading you to a future where you are in the same place then as you are now? What habits can you break? What relationships are no longer serving you?
If you are loyal to a job that isn’t valuing who you are, then you should be doing something to change that situation in your life. You don’t owe anyone loyalty but yourself. If you are in a friendship or a relationship that isn’t reciprocating the loyalty that you are putting in, then you should be considering taking them out of your life. When someone is showing you who they are and you continue to view them in a way that they have not proven to you- that’s on you. I want you to think about that.
How much better would your life be if you started to become loyal to the things in your life that are loyal back to you. Visualize it. Visualize what would happen if you gave your loyalty to the people, situations, habits and environments that better your life. I know that it can feel like the devil you know if better than the devil you don’t know. It’s so easy to become afraid of what the unknown could be. What could go wrong, and how you can get hurt. So we stick with the same life we have now. We settle for where we are instead of shifting our loyalty to the things that would create a better future for us. I want you to think about this today. Where does your loyalty lie?
It all starts with you.
