I know that everyday it seems that there are more and more negative and crazy things going on around us and keeping our anxieties under control can start to feel almost impossible. Personally, I have been dealing with anxieties for a while now. Most of you guys know my past and a lot of the struggles I have gone through so I do not want to get into that right now. I don’t want to shed any tears right now, but I do want to share with you guys some of the things that have helped me to deal with the anxieties in my own life.
First of all, you have got to build your own prescription for your healing. Now this is going to look different for every person out there. I know for myself personally, and probably also for a lot of people, that prescription looks like working out. I do a lot of working out when I am trying to focus on my mental health and control my anxieties. For me, working out actually does a lot to prevent anxiety in the first place. I like to go for runs in nature which makes me feel better just by itself. Being outside around nature puts me in the right mindset to think clearly and it keeps my mental health in check. As well, working out will release a lot of endorphins which help keep me on top and there is just a sense of accomplishment that goes hand in hand with completing a workout.
Now for you, protecting yourself mentally and protecting your peace might look different. Maybe protecting your peace looks like meditating daily or at least once every few days. Maybe it looks like eating better so you don’t feel tired and behind all of the time. Whatever it is, it is important for you to find out how to personally protect your peace and work on that. Your mental health is incredibly important to protect if you want to be able to be a good friend, a good employee, or just to feel good about yourself. Do not neglect taking care of yourself and what that looks like.
Now I want to be clear about one thing: Protecting your peace does not mean avoiding struggle. Protecting your peace means finding the struggle and working past it. Working out everyday is not going to be easy to motivate yourself to do. Meditation or eating right or whatever it is that is going to help you long term won’t just be a piece of cake. There will be a struggle that goes along with it, but what is most important is that you find it in yourself to overcome that struggle and protect what is most important… Your peace. That is what is going to help settle your anxieties. If you can learn to overcome the struggle it takes to take care of yourself then you can certainly overcome the anxieties in your life.
It all starts with you.
