We live in a world where everything fades. The clothes you wear, the people in your life, your life itself will fade. Life is short and all you really have are your memories. Don’t tie your identity to material things- your shoes, your job, your house, your car or your clothes. All of these things will fade, all you have is your life. At its very core. Get very clear about what’s important in your life. For you believers out there, find time to get closer to God. Lean into the things that are going to last, the things that won’t fade.
If you have your parents around, cherish them. Don’t forget to spend time with your children. Make memories, lasting memories with the people you love in this world. Some of y’all know that I’ve had a tough month this month. I’ve lost members of my family. I’m not asking for pity, I’m just being real with you. It’s challenged my faith but faith not tested is no faith at all. I’m doing fine and I am just trying to relay to you that from where I am, I can see the things that are truly important in my life and I’m taking note and changing my priorities.
Close your eyes and think about who matters and what matters. Spend time with yourself asking that question, it’s important. This is coming from someone with a solid platform of followers, financial stability and all those things but guess what- none of them helped me to heal. There was no car that was fast enough to heal me, no item I could buy that could console me. I had to go deeper than that. I pray for your healing like I pray for mine.
Purpose isn’t about you. It’s bigger than you. These material things in your life that you think will fulfill you never will. Money may help you with anxiety or stability but it will never fill that hole in your chest. That car may make you feel special for a season but it won’t ever fill that hole in your chest. We have to focus on the things that matter. Family, Friends, memories, purpose, your story, and if you are a believer -God. Take a moment today to reflect on a deeper level. I know we all have stress about the material world and I’m not telling you to abandon the world, only to pay attention to your soul. Look inside you for the things that will bring you lasting joy in a world where everything fades.
It all starts with you.
