You have to stop being so obsessed in the wrong way.
Hear me out. Even though the truth sometimes hurts, I promise that everything I preach on this platform comes from a place of love.
If you stay where you are, nothing is going to change in your life for the better.
Some of you are obsessed with all the wrong things. Some of you are obsessed with unhealthy wants, and some of you want a relationship so badly that you're willing to accept the toxic environment that might come with it. Some of you want a person so badly that you're willing to accept toxic behavior.
You've got to stop being so obsessed with your unhealthy wants. You've got to stop putting yourself in situations that contradict your standards, and you've got to exercise integrity for your own self-interest.
None of us are perfect, and I'm no exception to that rule. We all hold keep things in our lives that aren't good for us. We all hold on to guilty pleasures like excuses and self-prescribed limitations, because we often find it easier to justify weaknesses than to do the work.
It's all a mindset.
I just told you to stop being obsessed with the wrong things, so I know what some of you are asking. "What now, Trent? What do I do next?"
I'll tell you what you've got to do—it's time to be obsessed with the right things.
You've got to become obsessed with your definite needs, and you've got to be obsessed with bringing the right things into your life. You've got to be obsessed with your vision, and you've got to be obsessed with becoming a greater version of yourself. You've got to be obsessed with being the healthiest you ever, and you've got to be obsessed with being the greatest parent or spouse or friend or sibling you can be.
Stop making excuses, and lose your obsession with the noise. Let me ask you something: Are you truly obsessed with your faith, or are you more obsessed with your fear? When you meet an obstacle, do you immediately say to yourself, "Oh, I'm not good enough," or do you say "bring it on," and meet that challenge with a smile?
It's time to become obsessed with everything God meant you to be. It's time to stop being obsessed with everything else, from your fear to your perceived limitations. You have to remember that God made you for a purpose, and He gave you the power to shape your life into whatever you want it to be.
I say this a lot, but nobody is going to get you the life you deserve besides you. You're the only person on earth God has given the power to do that. Initially, that might seem like a pessimistic statement—that you've got to do everything on your own. Trust me when I say that it's not.
You have all the power, and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can get to work with a purpose.
It all starts with you.
