Stop living like you are powerless. When you sit there and tell yourself that you are not good enough because your life doesn’t look like someone else’s, you are doing yourself a disservice. Stop disqualifiying yourself because you are not qualified to run someone else’s race.
Maybe your relationship doesn't look like someone else’s relationship. So what, that’s not your race to run. Maybe your income doesn’t look like someone else’s income. So what, that’s their race to run. Maybe your Instagram doesn’t have as many followers as theirs. So what, that’s not for you to concern yourself with. What I’m trying to tell you is that comparison is the thief of your joy. It does you no good. I promise you, no good will come of it.
God laid out a path for you and you have to walk by faith to find it. You can’t do that if you are looking at the path that others are taking. It’s not your path, it’s theirs. Your path is going to look much different. How long are you going to count yourself out of your own life because it doesn’t look like someone else’s? How long before you get sick and tired of being sick and tired of you are? Is that what you want? You’ll never feel good enough if you place your value in the comparison of other people. Take it from me, I’ve done it, we’ve all done it. But you have to sit yourself down and focus on the things in your life. The good and the bad in your own head so that you can get those things in order.
That’s why you live in unrest. I know it’s not easy, but you know what is harder? Living your entire life without ever qualifying yourself for the race you were meant to run. You know what’s harder? Never giving yourself a fair chance to go for the dreams in your life. I’m going to tell you right now that if you don’t start fighting that fight against comparison and running your own race, you are going to live a life of pain and anger. That’s harder than running your own race.
Understand this, you cannot heal in the environments that are causing you pain. The first thing that you have to do is remove yourself from the situations that are breaking your heart. If there is something that you want to do for your life, you have to do whatever it takes to make it happen. God has been calling you to run your race but you have been disqualifying yourself. No more. It’s rehab time. Let’s get it.
It all starts with you.
