Set More Purposeful Goals
Hey fam, let's talk about goals. When we look at our lives, some of us will look where we can change externally instead of making an internal change. For instance, you might want to change the way you look and work on your physique and so you go to the gym and over do your workout. This might work for the short term but you will likely burn out because your solution is based on the external. What about if you were to ask yourself what desired emotion you would like to achieve internally? Maybe you want to have a better relationship with health and wellness so, instead of going to the gym to punish yourself, you recognize the root issue and form a genuine interest in better understanding routine, working out and dieting.
I find that many times in my life that a minor internal shift can be the answer to multiple external issues. What unresolved emotions in your life are contributing to the external dissatisfaction you are having? Can you boil it down to one root issue? What is one thing that you can change in your life that you know will have residual change in your life? By this, I mean that by changing your mindset you can change your reality and it echoes into multiple areas of your life.
A small shift can create major change in your life. I know that it is so easy to become overwhelmed when you think about all the things in your life that you need to change. Some of you might look at all the problems in your life and think "man, there are so many things I need to change so I'm just not going to try" because it feels like the mountain is too big to climb. If you were to trace these issues down to the root cause, you might find that there is one root cause that is affecting five or more areas in your life. I've been there and so I simplify my life. I started setting more focused goals, goals with more intention and purpose. When I started to do this, almost like a domino effect, those small goals, when achieved, would help me to complete all these other goals by default.
Here's the thing about change - many people don't change because they focus on what they are going to lose instead of what they are going to gain. This is one thing that I used to struggle with, and it was a big shift for me when I reevaluated how I looked at potential change. I've realized through my journey of being around highly motivational people that what commonly unites those people is how they are determined to focus on what they can gain from change and not what they will lose. A sacrifice is always required in any growth. When I was in the NFL, I had to sacrifice fun time and things that I wanted to do that I could put in the necessary work to gain that payout. There is no difference between you and those you look up to except the mindset that they adopt. Change your mentality and you will change your reality. Let's get it.
It all starts with you.
