Start Saying "Yes" Again
Today I want to present a challenge for you guys reading this blog. I want to talk to you about something that can be very hard for a lot of us especially in our hussle culture that tells us that every day, and consequently our whole life, is marked by how much boring progress you can make. I think a lot of us drown in the progress loads we make for ourselves and we never think about what will bring us joy in our lives. We never worry about what will actually be fun for us to do. So I want to challenge each and every one of you guys reading this right now to go have some fun today. I do not care how busy your schedule is, I want you to find something fun to do and do it. Stop putting off the things that will bring you joy. Make a serious effort to just enjoy yourself for at least a little bit today, okay? Can we make that deal? Will you push yourself to find that fun?
Some of us out there, and I am including myself in this, we get way too caught up in working too hard. Now before you take that out of context and quote me as saying that you should not work hard, hear me say this: There are seasons where we have got to grind. There are seasons where we have got to go hard. There are seasons where we have got to work hard. But for a lot of us we get so caught up in working hard that we never think about actually enjoying our life. And some of us even feel like we have to. We feel like, because of the specific circumstances in our lives that having fun is a privilege that we do not deserve or that we do not have the time for in our lives but I just want to encourage you to have fun because protecting your mental health is majorly important to your productivity. If you are never having fun in your life then what are you working for? Where is the pay off? If there is nothing you are working towards then you will not be nearly as successful in your work or as motivated in your work as you would be if you could just allow yourself to have fun in your life. Having fun in your life is actually important.
You have got to get back to having excitement in your life. Get back to saying yes to the things that bring excitement into your life. If you can be excited about your life again then the hard work that you do will be so much more rewarding because you will have purpose. Life was not meant to be dull and progressive all of the time. Sometimes it is important to just stop and smell the roses and just have fun. So again, I want to remind you that I have seriously challenged you today. Find some time, and have some fun. I’m serious.
It all starts with you.
