Start Your Climb
Let me be real with you for a minute. This thought struck me when I was out in nature recently, protecting my peace. I hiked to the top of a mountain, and what I noticed at the top was the silence. There was no one else there, and it made me realize that the metaphorical mountains we climb in our lives often have less people at the top as well. During the climb, you are going to have people that won't take that first step on the incline from the ground. Some people will follow you until the first challenge in the hike and some may make it half way with you. There will be people that will question why it is that you want to get to the top so badly and try to convince you out of completing the journey. Some people may resent you for making it to the top. Those who follow through to the peak are the real ones in your life.
It's on you. No one woke you up this morning but God, and no one told you to climb the mountain. When you get up and choose to move forward with bettering yourself, you do it because you have faith in the peak. It's vital to envision the peak, the reward, the end goal. This way, when challenges come along, when your friends and family or haters don't see the point in what you are doing, you can be indifferent to their support. Many of you guys are waiting for people in your life to give you permission to be great and let me be real with you - some of you are going to be waiting your entire life. I understand why you want that support, why that feels like a necessary start to your journey- I've been there. The problem is that this may never come. Some of you need to look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that it's all on you. No one is going to climb to the peak on your behalf.
When I was on my hike I remember thinking about how I wish I could be teleported from the base of the mountain to the peak. To skip the hard part all together and that's natural to want the reward without the work but let me tell you the truth- I wouldn't have appreciated the peak. Life is all about the journey you take on the way to the peak. It's that very process that teaches you what you can do. It's that process that builds that trust and respect in yourself, and the challenges that prove to you how strong you really are. There is no reward without challenge. Start your climb, it's rehab time. Let's Get it.
It all starts with you.
