Stop Accepting Less & Expecting More
I want you to look internally at yourself today. It’s about taking responsibility for yourself. When you look at your life and find that you are not where you want to be, remember this- life is going to happen, but if there is something that you can change and you aren’t then that’s on you. Are you accepting something in your life that shouldn’t be there? A lot of us have accepted less from ourselves and your life is a reflection of what you accept for yourself. If you continue to accept mediocrity, pain, nonsense, if you are tolerating things you shouldn’t tolerate, or lowering your standards then there is a good chance that your life is going to end up in an unhappy place. There’s a good chance that you will end up in a place where you are not fulfilled.
There are so many people in this world that are doing the same things that they have always done and expecting a different result. They hang around the same people, they stay in the same environment, they keep the same hobbies and then wonder why they feel like they do?
When you find yourself conflicted about your scenario, sit yourself down and ask “what did I choose to accept in this last week? What did I choose to accept in this last month? What did I choose to accept this year?”
I went for a run today. Not because I wanted to, because I can tell you that I didn’t. I sat in my car for ten minutes trying to convince myself to take that first step. I had to sit myself down and say “Trent, you know that if you accept less from yourself right now, it will be contagious in your life.” I know where that road of accepting less from myself leads. I know that it starts with running but it leads to a whole host of other issues. I went on the run and I felt great after.
What are you choosing to accept in your life? Are you choosing to accept that this is all that life has to offer you? Are you choosing to accept that the unhappy relationship that you are in is the only relationship you will ever find? Are you choosing to accept that you are the failures of your past? Are you choosing to believe that the dollars in your bank account are all you are worth? I want you to think about that today. This is a message that will require you to look inward. And I mean look hard.
Just know that when you find these things that you are accepting you don’t have to allow them, you have the power to say “no.” You don’t have to stay a part of it and you don’t have to keep accepting it.
This is your life.
It all starts with you.
