This is a hard message but it might be the most important one that you hear today - stop living your life to be liked by other people. The most influential people in your life and in the world are the ones that swim upstream and against the current. Those same people often started out by caring what others think of them and basing every decision in their life off of those concerns until one day they wake up and realize that this is their life. This is your life and you only get one. Live it how you want to live it.
Some of you need to recognize that no one is going to live your life for you. No magic hero is going to step in during the final hour and sweep you into your destiny- it starts with you and only you.
The hardest part about this message is that you will lose support when you decide to take your life into your own hands. I need you to know that so I am going to say it again- you will lose support when you take your life into your own hands. There will be friends, followers and supporters that not only drop you from their life but actively work against you as you try to reach your goal. It may even be members of your family that don’t see your vision for your life and they will try to shape you into something that you are not.
When you become so determined to bring your goals into a reality and you leave behind the “you” that you used to be, there will be those who will never stop reminding you of where you come from. Good. Let them keep reminding you. Let them keep reminding you until it doesn’t hold power over you. Let them keep telling you until their criticisms whistle by you. One day you can look back from the future that you built for yourself and realize that it was those who tried to hold you back that really pushed you harder than anyone else around you.
Here’s how you start- stop expecting support. The crazy thing is that the support you need along the journey is going to find you when the time is right. Although, the people who start the journey with you may not be the ones that finish with you, they are just as important to have around to signify the hard start of the rest of your life.
No one in this world knows the future that is right for you except for you. Here’s why- you know where you started. You know what drives you and what gets you up in the morning. You know the hurt that you carry with you and the calling that God has put on your life. Follow it passionately and leave behind those who will not see you through it.
