Stop Letting This Ruin Your Life
I know this is going to be an unpopular message but you need to hear it. Everything in your life is something that you have allowed to be there. So many of us had one bad season and we attached our identity to it. We told ourselves “this is who I am now.” And now here you are unhappy and it’s because you accepted less for your life. You allowed yourself to be given less that you deserve.
I want you to go back to the moment in your life when you accepted that this is who you are. Maybe that’s your health. When in your life did you decide that you are someone who wouldn’t take care of yourself? When in your life did you decide that “you’re just not one of those healthy people?” When in your life did you decide that you are not lovable? When in your life did you decide that you don’t have what it takes to follow your passion and make it a reality for your life? What time in your life did you get your heart broken and decide that you are now a broken person? When in your life did you decide that you aren’t worthy of a life worth living? Go back to that moment. Go back to the moment that you allowed to define you. I want you to close your eyes and put yourself right there. Realize that this was a choice you made for your life and just as easily as it can be chosen, a new and better choice can be made for your life.
So let today be that day. Today is the day that you decide you don’t have to be the person that you were. Let to day be the day that you re-evaluated what you have let define you and decided to define yourself as capable. Who would you be if you let go of that? Who might you be if that one moment or one era of your life didn’t tell you what to think? Would you be better off? Would you love yourself more? Yes. You cannot let the past define your present, and you have to fight to make sure your past does not become your future.
I know it’s not easy. Those thoughts come up on a loop and try to pull you back down with them but you made the decision to start a war against them. Think out your reasons for slaying those dragons and think about who you would be if they were dead. That’s your “why.” You need to make a strong enough “why” that it can kill any thought that tries to hold you back. I say it all the time, but your biggest battle is the internal battle. This is the fight of your life.
It all starts with you.
