I feel sick and tired, you guys. If you want any real change in your life then you have to get sick and tired too. But you have to be sick and tired of being sick and tired. You have to be at your complete end when you are really willing to make the sacrifices it takes to get what you want in your life. The things you are looking for are not just going to be handed to you. It is going to take discipline and hard work to get whatever it is that you are going after in your life.
If you are sitting around and making excuses for why you are not at the place you want to be in your life then you are wasting your time. Nobody will be as invested in your life as you need to be. If you are giving excuses for why you are not where you want to be then the only person you are fooling is yourself, and the only person you are hurting is also yourself. Excuses keep you from what you want by telling you that it just isn't possible because something external is keeping you from getting there. Now, obviously there are exceptions to the no excuses rule because sometimes there are things that you just can't do. Let's say I wanted to be eight feet tall. Well, I can "put my mind to it" all I want, but that's not really going to get me anywhere in the long run. For a lot of things in your life, however, there actually is something you can do about it. We tend to jump to the conclusion that something is "impossible" long before we ever actually find out.
For example, there was a guy named Roger Bannister who ran a mile in under four minutes in 1954 before anybody else did. The reason nobody else had ever run a mile this fast was not because they could not run that fast, but instead it was because they believed that they could not run that fast in their heads. They gave excuses and they said it was just simply physically impossible to run a mile in under four minutes. People used to say that your heart would explode if you attempted it. However, after Roger Bannister ran the four minute mile then several other people beat his time very soon after. It was as if Roger had to break through the mental block in order for other people to realize that it was excuses that were holding them back.
If you ever want to reach the goals you have set for yourself then you need to stop giving excuses for why you can't get there, and you certainly need to stop telling yourself that any of your goals are impossible, because odds are that they are not impossible, you just do not know it yet.
It all starts with you.
