Stop Searching For a Magic Formula
On the surface, a lot of things can lead you towards healing. A lot of people say time comes with healing or healing comes with time. I know that at this point that that has basically become a cop-out answer but it is true. It is completely true. When things are bad, even horrific, time can make it better. We mend over time. Of course, I am a man of faith, so I believe that God heals. God has your healing, and sometimes you have to go through your loneliest times just to know what being loved actually feels like from God.
When my sports career was finally lost - and I know that might sound silly - but when I lost sports in my life everything in my world was turned upside down. Suddenly I was facing an entire identity crisis and I was afraid that I would not be able to pick up the pieces when it was all over. It took time for me to hit rock bottom and see where I had been to finally learn how to pick myself back up again and heal. At rock bottom, I found the love that God had for me. There is a scripture that says “God is close to the brokenhearted. He rescues those that are crushed in spirit.” So I want to encourage you guys to build that relationship even deeper during the middle of the storm. God wants to be there for you in your darkest moments. Seek him when you feel at your lowest and at your weakest and you will find him.
If you genuinely want to heal then you have to be willing to reach out to God. If you want to heal then you also have to realize that major healing will not just happen overnight. If you have been flipped upside down and you do not know what to make of the chaos around you then you will have to have a little patience when you are picking up the pieces. Rome was not built in a day.
Too often I think we blame God when it was not even God’s doing. We should be going to God instead of blaming him. We get into a relationship that is toxic and takes all of our energy out. That is not God’s fault. If you found it in you to stop blaming him then he would be there for you. God will provide true healing and true presence if you will let him. Sometimes we stayed in a job that wasn’t for us. God didn’t make that job for us, but we were so hungry for opportunity that we were stuck in a situation that was hard on our soul.
If we want to heal then we have got to be willing to have the patience it takes to wait while the healing takes place. If we want to heal then we have got to be willing to stop blaming God, look inward at our choices, and go to God for healing.
It all starts with you.
