There is something I want to share with you guys that might cut a little bit deep but I think it is important. I am not meaning this message as a super preachy kind of message today. I do not want to imply that I have this figured out, because I do not. I still battle with the very same things I am going to talk about today, but I want to talk about how it has affected me in my life and then I am going to turn it over to talking about you guys and how you can fix the very same problem.
So I had a dream a few nights ago, and some of you may have heard this if you listen to my podcast, but you know how in sports there is always a running clock on the board in whatever you are playing. But in this dream I was in a basketball game and no matter how many points I scored I could not catch up. I am going to be honest with you guys, at the beginning of the game, I kind of cruise controlled the game. I was not giving my all. I was just going through the motions and putting in half effort. I could not look myself in the mirror and say that I gave it my all. I was telling myself that I could come back towards the end of the game and put more effort into the game then. I kept telling myself that I had time. The weird thing was that during that game the clock never stopped. No matter how many time outs we took, the clock kept going. No matter how many fouls we got, the clock kept going. No matter how many times I did something to stop the clock it would just keep going. In the dream I started telling the referees and complaining about it to them but they couldn’t do anything about it. The clock just kept going. So I ended up losing the game because I couldn’t stop the clock when I had convinced myself that I could.
So maybe I tell that story and you think what does that have to do with my life at all? Well a lot of us live our lives in the exact same way that I played that game in my dream. We create goals for ourselves but we never live up to them because we just go through the motions and we do not put in the work or make the sacrifices that we know we need to to reach our goals because we tell ourselves that there will always be time, but I am just going to be straight up with you. You will not always have time. You will not be able to stop the clock of your own life. You only have so much time left and that clock will not stop for anything. No matter how much you try, or you complain, you are constantly losing minutes. So if you want to achieve your goals, then stop wasting time. Stop waiting for a sign. Just push yourself now.
It all starts with you.
