Every time the thought of giving up crosses your mind, you need to remember that you're in control.
In life, we all make mistakes. Far too often, we are more upset about those mistakes than the fact that we never tried our hardest to begin with. Let me tell you something—as long as you try your best, failure doesn't matter. Sure, it's fun to win. That being said, no one can keep you from becoming a stronger person every time you give something your all. Stop taking in the lies this world is feeding you. Stop living for society's expectations, because society's expectations differ heavily from what you need to achieve for yourself. There's an analogy I like a lot.
Everyone will cheer you on when you score a touchdown, but if you drop that touchdown, no one is going to say a thing.
It doesn't matter to the world that you tried your best—if you don't make that touchdown, you aren't worth a thing to society. Although that message may seem bleak and pessimistic, I want you to let it free you. You can't control what people think about you, and that's okay! You don't need to. If you focus on doing your best, I promise you that the support will come. When it does, however, you'll realize it never mattered in the first place.
Stop working so hard for praise. Stop getting so down about the fact no one's cheering you on. I get it—that lack of support hurts. Often, we lack support from the people closest to us. We lack support from our friends and family, and that makes life seem pretty bleak. At the end of the day, you can't make people love you. That being said, no one can stop you from progressing, and no one can stop you from growing stronger. No one can choose for you how you react to failure or loss, and no one can stop you from succeeding. No one can stop you but one person—yourself.
We all miss some shots in life, and we all drop at least a few passes. If you're going through a rough season, I need you to remember something important. Just because you are in pain right now doesn't mean you can't come back from that pain to become a better version of yourself. The choice is yours—you are the only one who can move yourself forward, and you're the only one who can choose to let your pain teach you. You're the only one on earth who can save you, and I'll be honest with you—it is a huge responsibility. It's time for you to take control of that responsibility and take your life to the next level.
It all starts with you.
