We're all afraid.
We've all got a number of fears. We're afraid of doing something truly great, or trying something new, because we are afraid of failure. We're afraid to leave our situations because we're afraid of the unknown. We refuse to change because we prefer familiarity to what we really deserve out of life.
Fear is the number one stumbling stone in a lot of our lives. It's time to stop saying "I'm afraid."
A lion isn't going to come at you if you try something new and fail miserably, so why are you acting like going out of your comfort zone is the end of the world? Fear is hard to escape, and comes in many forms. There's the failure of not being, or the fear of pursuing our goals and failing, or the fear of pursuing the wrong thing in life. Many of us let fear stop us from reaching our full greatness, and that's a struggle we all go through.
How do you beat fear?
I'm only human, and I've definitely experienced fear. When I'm faced with an obstacle and I feel that fear creeping up my spine, there are three things I tell myself. These three things have always helped me come back to earth and remember that whatever I'm scared of isn't the end of the world.
The first thing that's helped me out a lot is understanding where fear comes from. When fear pops up, the first thing I remind myself is that fear comes from the unknown, not the known. That's why people are always scared of trying new things, and that's why many people never end up doing what they should be doing in life. The first thing that's helped me beat fear is understanding—I figure out where my fear is from, to the best of my ability, and then it's that much easier to overcome.
Number one is understanding where fear comes from, and number two is understanding why I'm feeling fear. Am I scared for any real, logical reason, or am I just scared of something because it's out of my comfort zone? More often than not, I've found that there's nothing to fear at all! Although there are definitely exceptions to that rule, understanding why I'm feeling fear has helped me eliminate a lot of it.
Number three is the most important step of all. You have to understand that you can overcome fear. Let's say you can't figure out where your fear is from or why you're scared of it. No matter the type of fear, I want you to know that you can always overcome it. You are capable of more than you know, and fear is only going to control you if you let it.
What are you waiting for? It's time to conquer your fears and claim the life you're meant for.
It all starts with you.
