Three Things You Need To Quit
I’ve got some things on my mind today that I want to share with you. I want to talk about three things that you need to quit. Now, I’m not talking about three magical things that change your life in an instant, no miracle cure to the pain and suffering of life, but I am talking about three things that will make a huge difference if you implement them. Let’s get into it.
- Stop trying to please everybody. No matter how you try I guarantee you that you will not be able to please everyone. There will be someone out there somewhere that disagrees with you fundamentally. You are going to have people in your life that try and hold you back because of how they view the world. Ultimately, this is your life and you have to take full control of it and if the people around you don’t understand that then that’s on them. I’m not telling you to be a bad person or go out of your way to displease everybody, I am just trying to tell you that when you stop allowing your brain to think about what others might think before going after your dreams, you might find your dreams are much more attainable.
- Stop trying to be perfect. Perfection is a myth. I want you to be the best version of yourself and I’m not telling you not to strive for that. We live in the age of social media where everyone is showing you their highlights and not their real life. You see the smile and the perfect lighting but you don’t see the reality of that person’s life. If you knew that the race was impossible, why would you even run it? This is why it’s important to drop the need to be perfect. It will overwhelm you into believing that you are not good enough. That’s not true, you can do anything you set your mind to. You are good enough. Don’t let the fictional concept of perfection tell you that “perfectly” is the only way. The road to success is long, winding and difficult. It’s messy too. It’s everything but perfect.
- Quit settling for less. How many times in your life have you settled for less than you deserve? Settling brings suffering. Do not allow people to tell you what you’re worth. Don’t allow your finances to define your worth. Don’t allow your boss to tell you what you are worth. Do not let social media tell you what you are worth. Your worth has already been established by a loving God and no creature or situation on Earth has the power to change that or take it away from you.
Sit and think about these three things today. Really look at how you can make these small changes in your life and see where they will take you. What would you do if you knew that you couldn’t fail? Would you care what others thought? Would you feel the need to be perfect? Would you settle for less?
It all starts with you.
