Today Is Your New Beginning
So today is the second day of the new year and I’m sure there are already several people out there who are starting to worry that they are going to go back on their new year’s resolutions. It happens to everybody. Maybe some of you guys out there did not start yesterday like you wanted to and you are worried about starting today because you do not have that same motivating drive that comes with the first day of the new year, because if you start now then you will put all of that effort into whatever your resolutions are and you still won’t even be able to say that you did whatever it is “all year.” This is the problem with new year's resolutions.
There is nothing special about the first day of the year. Any day can be your new beginning. Today can be your new beginning. You do not have to put some weird arbitrary pressure on yourself or on any particular day because it is a monday, or the first day of the month, or even the first day of the year. If you want to make serious changes in your life then there has never been a better time to do that than right now. Stop procrastinating and postponing the person you want to be. Just start pushing yourself to change everything today. If you want to start working out, do it. Do it today. You can find time, I promise. Maybe stay up a little later and go on a short run. If you want to find a better job, go apply for some jobs today. What is stopping you? If you want to start eating healthy, there has never been a better time than right now.
New Year’s Resolutions can be a fun way to think about creating goals for yourself when you would not have thought to do that otherwise. Do not get me wrong. I am not trying to say that I hate new year’s resolutions or something, I do not hate them. I just think that people use them as an excuse to put things off when they do not always have the time to do that. The truth is that all of our time here on this earth is limited and we just do not have enough time to waste it waiting for random and arbitrary dates if we want to follow our goals. If you have something you want to get better at in December, do not wait until January. Just get started. If you have something you want to do for yourself to work on yourself and it is December thirtieth, you still do not have to wait for January first. Today can be your new beginning. Any day can be your new beginning. There is no reason to wait on something that could help you to be the best version of yourself. So let today be your new beginning and get to work.
It all starts with you.
