Listen—you might not be where you want to be, but as long as you're moving somewhere, you are going to be okay.
If you're making the conscious decision to better yourself every day, nothing can hold you back. That might seem like an overly optimistic assessment, but let me tell you something—society has programmed you. Society has programmed you to believe that you are chained to your past. Society has programmed you to believe in your failures more than your vision, and society has programmed you to be more loyal to safe toxicity than risky fulfillment. Society has told you to work for someone else's dream instead of your own, to stay in your comfort zone and fear the unknown. Society has told you to use your past as a lesson about why you can't change your future.
Society is wrong.
You are not your past. You have the ability to use your past as fuel, to transform the lives of others. You have the ability to use your failures as lessons, to better your future and the futures of those closest to you. Your past failures don't ruin your chances at future successes—your past qualified you to help yourself and others through the journey of life. You aren't your past, but because of how much your past can teach you, you should be thankful for it. Whoever out there is watching this right now, I want you to do something important. Not just for me, not just for you, but for the entire world. I want you to show the world your heart, because once they see your heart, the choice will be up to them. Whether they trust your past or your heart will be up to them, and that's it! That's all you have to do! Once you stop believing your past, you can start living like the greatest version of yourself. The people around you will try to tell you that people never change, and society will try to tell you that change is impossible, but stop listening to society.
Don't let them convince you to give up on your change. Don't let their gossip and negativity sway you from the truth, and don't let their perception of you erode your standards for yourself. Don't let their toxic fiction become your toxic reality—show them your heart, instead. Show them your heart instead of your past, and if they still don't believe you, that's on them. The worst case scenario? You'll have weeded out the people who never believed in your vision from the start.
It all starts with you.
