Two Ways To Heal Yourself
People ask me a certain question a lot.
They ask me, "Trent, when life gets hard, what do you do?" That's not an easy question to answer, but they ask me anyway. People ask me what my 'go-to' is when I'm feeling down, and the reason that's such a difficult question is because everyone faces a different kind of difficult.
There are so many situations that people deal with in life, and that means there are a lot of different ways to deal with pain. The following is by no means a complete answer to the question so many people ask me, but I'm going to try to give all of you my experience and what has worked for me.
We're all human, and that means we're all going to suffer in one way or another. We're all going through these storms and struggles, but you have to remember that one bad day doesn't mean your life is over. One tough struggle doesn't mean you should call it quits.
You can't just give up! Life isn't a game, so stop playing with it.
If you want to get through those rough seasons in your life, you need a strong foundation. I have a couple things I call my "nevers."
The first never is to never stop praying. Prayer is what gets me through every single day. Ever since I began strengthening my relationship with God, my life has been better. Prayer is healing, and everyone who wants release should make a habit of communicating with God. I'm only human, like anyone else, and that means I go through trials and tribulations. However, strengthening my relationship with God has helped me understand that even when the going gets tough, I can still find peace. No matter how bad my day has been, I can still kneel down and pray. I can still communicate with God, and that's something that has always been amazing for me. Even when my prayer doesn't immediately change the situation, it always helps me cope with the situation and find peace.
The second never is to never stop appreciating life. I joke about this one a lot, but I'm so serious when I wake up and I appreciate the world I live in. I am a hundred percent serious when I take on each day, and I make sure to be grateful for the new opportunities each day promises. There are so many little joys in life, and being appreciative each and every day has helped me understand that things aren't as bad as they may seem to be at times.
If you're feeling down, it's time to remember the worth of your life. When you don't feel loved, remember that you are loved by God. When you feel as though each day is full of suffering, remember that each day is an opportunity for something incredible.
It all starts with you.
