Understand and Create Habits
In this journey of bettering our lives, we get so obsessed with the end goal that we forget about the journey. I want you to close your eyes and think back on yourself when you decided to change your life. Take a few moments to really feel your life. It’s a gift. Breath. Breathing is a gift. When you are present in that moment, I want you to thank your old self because that person was a necessary person in your life. Then I want you to practice gratitude for every era in your life. The bad and the good. Both are needed for you to be the best version of yourself.
Your life is a reflection of your habits. If your life sucks, look at your routines. I try to work on one new habit every month because this will help me to grow. I know that you have something you want for your life. It’s easy to dream. Choose one of those goals and ask yourself this - are you willing to develop the habits that it takes for you to be the person that you want to be?
Comfort is the enemy of your growth. Your brain is always looking for the quickest way to soothe you. When you feel triggered, what do you do? What do you go to? Drinking? Eating? Drugs? You go back to what feels comfortable. There is nothing wrong with feeling emotions but you are not going to change when you keep going to the same comforts to those emotions. When I used to feel stressed, I used to go drinking to blow off steam. But when I decided to change my life I knew that there were some things that I had to leave behind. Now I go out and run or protect my peace in nature. Think about this- when the fire starts, what do you use for your fire escape? Where do they lead?
How do you get Peace, Energy and Confidence? Here’s what I do. Think about how you don’t have to go to rehab if you are putting in the work at “prehab.” I know that if I don’t create energy in my life and protect my peace then I am not ready to show up for my life. If I don’t protect my peace then I am not ready to show up for my life. I write down the things that bring me peace and the things that bring me energy. I want you to take 10 minutes today to come up with a list of five habits that you can do that will bring you peace in your life. And then come up with a list of five habits for energy as well. Now, let’s talk about confidence. Confidence is everything. I make sure that I start my day off with an accomplishment. For me that is working out. If that’s what it is for you, great. If not, find something that you can do everyday that is pushing you. Something that takes commitment and focus. Something that pushes you. This will give you confidence.
These things are going to change your life if you let them. Change your habits, change your life.
It all starts with you.
