Do what you want in life.
That might sound cheesy or generic, but far too many of us are working for someone else's dream. Far too many of us are loyal to someone else's vision, and far too many of us are working to impress people we don't need to impress. We're trying so hard, and for what? Often, we get caught up in the lies society tries to tell us. We find ourselves trapped by the so-called 'potential' employers sell us, and instead of doing what's right for us, we subscribe to what we've been told to trust.
Trust your vision instead.
Don't fall in love with the presentation, and take even your own perception with a grain of salt. Know that even if you don't realize it, we've all been programmed by society to accept or reject certain things. We've all been fed certain functions about how life 'should' be. Let me ask you something—when is the last time you lived on your own terms? When is the last time you disregarded all the voices telling you what you couldn't do, and just did it? When is the last time you learned from your failures and moved on, then looked back and found yourself farther ahead than you ever could have imagined?
It's time to forge your own path, and it's time to be honest with yourself. Stop putting on a mask—that facade will only hurt your mental health in the long-run. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how well you can fool society and social media. It doesn't matter how happy you appear to be, because when you get back from work at night, you won't be satisfied. No one will know but you, but when you are up at night and cannot sleep, you'll understand that it's impossible to hide from one's self.
You will always expose yourself, and that's a good thing. You will always expose your false victories, and you will always feel dissatisfied until you get what you truly deserve out of life. Until you get what you really want, it doesn't matter how happy or successful you can pretend to be—if you're putting on a mask, you are wasting your life, plain and simple. Although today's message might seem harsh, it comes from a place of love. Every day, I see people put on masks to hide their pain, and every day, it breaks my heart. Expose yourself, even if it hurts, and the rest will follow.
It all starts with you.
