What's Draining You?
Recently, I decided to disconnect from the things that were draining my life.
That decision was the best one I'd made in a long time, but often, people are too afraid of guilt to disconnect. Everything in life is connected, but connection isn't always good. Power can be positive or negative, and your connections can be powerful or draining. It's time for you to take your life seriously, because if you don't change your life, no one will. It's a tough truth, but it's necessary—no one is going to life your life for you, and no one is going to be loyal to your vision or your principles like you are.
The first step to success is finding peace.
A lot of people will try to make you feel guilty for disconnecting, but I need you to be strong. I need you to evaluate the connections in your life and realize that while some of them are truly empowering you, others are draining you instead. When I made the decision in 2013 to let go of what was draining me, my life started over in the best way. I chose to leave some of my social media accounts for months, because I understood then and continue to understand now the power of connection. Our environments shape us, so my question to you is, why are you clinging to a toxic environment?
I promise you, and this is pretty much common sense—if you move to an uplifting environment, you will feel uplifted. If you can disconnect from the things that are draining your life, you'll have more room for healthy connections. People will try to make you feel guilty when you try to break away from them, but that's what manipulators do—they try to hurt you when they can't use you anymore.
Let me tell you something—never feel guilty for respecting yourself. Never feel guilty for protecting your peace. If you can't find peace, you have no chance of success. Tomorrow morning, I want you to reevaluate your life. It's not going to be easy, but I promise you, losing the weight you've been carrying for years will give you the greatest feeling of freedom you've ever experienced. It's time to disconnect from everything that's been draining your life, because if you can't stand up for yourself, no one will. It's time to take responsibility for your existence, and it's time to look at your connections more realistically, even though it might hurt. I promise you, it'll be worth it.
It all starts with you.
