Stop letting fear dictate your life.
You need to overcome your fear so that you can walk through the door to success. If you want to do something incredible, you need to stop fearing the unknown. If you want to make a big change, you've got to embrace the unknown! You've got to cut fear out of your life and become fully committed to what you have no way of knowing for certain.
We all have fears.
I remember going into the boxing gym as a complete beginner and thinking, "Man, I'm gonna look stupid!" But by the end of that workout, I had definitely changed my tune. Even though I'd been apprehensive at first, I realized my first time in a boxing gym had amounted to one of the most rewarding workouts and rewarding things in my life.
You have to try new things.
Everyone begins as a beginner, and failure is to be expected, not feared. When I first stepped into that boxing gym, my real fear was about how I'd look throwing those punches. Even though it was something so simple, I'd never done it before. I was scared, but I did it anyway, and I was rewarded by something that has changed my life in an incredible way.
What do you fear?
If you fear failure, remember that failure happens every day we don't try something we're scared of failing. If you go try something out and fall on your face, you can at least learn from that failure, and try again with more experience. But if you stay there on the couch scared of failure and refuse to get up and do something with your life, you will never have a shot at succeeding. That might sound harsh, but it's just the tough truth.
I remember back in high school, people would talk about rejection. Someone would be talking about how nervous he was asking out a girl, and he'd, say, "I'm scared she'll say no. I'm scared she'll reject me." Meanwhile, every day he'd wait not asking that girl out, he'd be in the same position as if he'd failed already!
The only way we can move forward is by accepting the possibility of failure. I'm not going to sit here and lie to you and say that you are automatically going to succeed at everything. The reality is, you are going to fail and fail again. But each time you fail, you are going to learn, and therefore increase your chances of success, even if it means success in a completely different area. Failure is necessary for growth. If you're scared of growth, why are you reading an inspirational blog post?
Do you want to build a beautiful life? Go out and embrace the unknown!
It all starts with you.
