Many people begin their journey seeking validation.
Today's message might ruffle a few feathers, but I need to express an essential truth: Nobody owes you anything.
At first, that might seem like a depressing, pessimistic statement. However, it's a truth that's actually inspired me over the years for a few different reason.
Often, people are entitled and think that others should support them and believe in them just because they're trying harder than they've ever tried. Often, people beginning to shape their dreams and visions think that the world owes them something.
Let me tell you something: No one owes you anything, and the faster you realize that truth, the faster you'll get to where God wants you to be in this life.
The sooner you drop external validation as a motivator, the sooner you'll be able to take your passion to the next level! If the support of others is the only reason you're doing whatever it is you're doing, you won't get very far.
Not everyone will understand your vision, and that's okay! Not everyone will see why you are so passionate about whatever it is that drives you, and that is something that can hurt. Sometimes, those closest to us—our friends and family—are the ones who neglect to support us.
In my own journey, the people I assumed would support me the most ended up supporting me the least. That's something which really bothered me at first, but I eventually came to realize that it doesn't matter how much I do—no one is obligated to give me anything!
Once you realize that your drive has to come fully from within, you will give yourself permission to put the power back in your life. As long as you sit around expecting other people to do something for you, whether it's building your business or moving forward with your vision, you're putting your life in their hands!
You can't trust anyone with your life but yourself.
Don't wait for others to give you opportunities! Don't wait for others to give you validation—that's not the reason you should be moving forward. Move forward for yourself, or you won't get very far.
You have a voice. You have a mission. You know yourself!
Certain opportunities might make your way easier, and it's true that some people will end up opening incredible doors for you. Some people will give you once in a lifetime chances, but if you sit around waiting for those chances without doing anything yourself, you might just wait forever without accomplishing anything.
My personal advice is to become so good at what you do that all your motivation comes from self-confidence and purpose. Support yourself, even when they don't!
It all starts with you.
