You Can't Stop the Hate
Today I want to talk to you guys about the problem that all of us run into when we want to become the better version of ourselves. Usually, the moment we get started turning things around is when you will start hearing people in your life getting loud about how you can’t do it, or about how you are still the same person you were when you made the mistakes you are trying to correct. Let me tell you something right here and right now, and I want you to really listen to this and remember it the next time you hear someone sending hate your way about the work you are trying to do in your life: You will never be able to silence the hate. No matter how hard you try, or how much good you are doing for yourself or the people around you, there will always be people who will hate on you and try to bring you down.
There are a couple different things that are important to take into account when you hear the hate coming your way. The first is this very important truth: Most of the time, the haters who are yelling at you like a megaphone in your ear are usually just projecting their hate for themselves and their journey onto you. So many people run into trouble when they try to get better and some of those people let that very same trouble stop them in their tracks from getting better. For a lot of those people that quit on their journey, they end up telling themselves that it is just impossible to get better, so it is not really their own fault. They tell themselves that getting better is too hard for anyone to do, and they are the victim of the situation, and that the odds are stacked up against them, and that all of the world is out to get them so they basically had no other choice but to quit. The problem is when you come along and start proving that point wrong. You start to come along and succeed where they chose to quit and now they are faced with an option: They can either rise to the challenge and work hard to build themselves back up instead of quitting this time, which some people do when faced with that problem, but for a lot of people, they choose the other option which is to hate on you until you are convinced of the same thing that they convinced themselves of - that you just do not have it in you and you should quit. So when you hear that hate, you can take heart in the fact that it probably is not even for your sake in the first place. It is to protect their own ego.
When you hear people in your life throwing hate your way, you have to learn to let it go, because when it is all said and done, there will always be haters no matter what you do. So don’t let them stop you on your journey upward.
It all starts with you.
