I know that this message won’t be for everybody, but I know that it is for someone. Too many times, we allow yesterday’s troubles to turn into today's struggles. We allow yesterday’s worries to turn into today’s stress. Too many of us are too good at carrying the past into our present.
We are too good at trying to control the things that are out of our control whether that’s the past, rumors, or other people’s opinions. We live our whole life in stress, our whole entire life in worry. But we forget about the one super power that we have- appreciation.
When you learn how to appreciate everything that you have, you will realize that you have everything that you need. I learned this a long time ago- your perspective, your viewpoint of life can either be your power or your prison. It can serve your anxiety, it can serve your stress, it can serve your depression. It can define your sense of meaning. Or it can serve your peace, and your growth, your faith and your mindset. Think about that for a moment. Are you so concerned about the negative in your life that you miss the things in your life that are going right. And how would you even know if it's going wrong, because sometimes it takes the wrong path to lead you to the right place. I know, because I have had to lose a lot to get to where I am today.
Just because the path isn’t perfect, doesn’t mean that the purpose isn’t perfect. How you see life is how you feel about life, what you feel about life is what you do with life. What you do with life is what you get from life. It all starts with your perspective.
Instead of being so good at finding what’s not going right in your life, seek out the things that you can appreciate. I can promise you this- there is someone in this world that wants your life. Don’t let social media define your perspective about your life. Don’t compare your life to someone else’s because you don’t have any idea what is really going on in their heart and mind. Focus on your life. Focus on the beauty in your life and the people in your life. Focus on the purpose and meaning in your life. Don’t let what’s negative in your life blind you to what is most positive in your life. You owe it to yourself to shape your worldview. You owe it to yourself to slowly shape your perspective to one that better defines your life as a positive force instead of a negative force. The smallest perspective shift can result in the most powerful life change. You owe you.
It all starts with you.
