You're Running Out of Time
I was sitting watching the sunset the other day before I recorded a video and I remember thinking "Oh we have got plenty of time to record a video," but before I knew it the sun had set within like two minutes and it was too dark to record anything. I know that might seem like a random event but what it made me realize is that time does not hold on no matter what plans you have for the future. Time will keep rolling on faster and faster as you go along and if you do not push yourself to do what it is you want to do now then the sun might set before you get around to it and you could be left in the dark wondering what if.
So often for a lot of us we always say tomorrow or next week or next time or next year and we continue to find new ways to put things off in our lives because we are afraid to really grab life and go for what we want or what is going to put us on the path to being the person we really want to be. For example, if you want to run a marathon then start training RIGHT NOW. Quit telling yourself that you have time to do that somewhere else down the road because that could very well not be true. You need to push for what you want now.
So many of us live in the "next life." We are always waiting for the next chance, the next moment, the next opportunity, the next this, the next that, but none of us are ready for anything now. The problem with that is that eventually that next will come and it will become now and we will still not be ready for now. If you are afraid to do something now then let me tell you something you will always be afraid to do something. Fear does not just magically disappear with time. You have to learn how to do things even if you are afraid of them if you ever want to have any chance of doing things and getting them done. Push yourself, push yourself, push yourself. Courage does not mean without fear. Courage means pushing yourself to do something despite the fear that you have to do it.
I want to challenge you guys not to live in procrastination. I need to clarify that there is a difference between patience and procrastination. Patience is a talent. I really believe that it is a true talent to be patient and there is a real virtue in that, but sometimes we do not do something out of fear so we put it off and we call it patience to save our pride. I challenge you to pay attention to those times that you are procrastinating and blaming it on patience. I challenge you to start doing what you know you should when you know you know you should. Start living now because you just might be running out of time.
It all starts with you.
