The question that I want to ask you guys today is this: What are you holding onto that you need to let go of? I have asked you guys this before but it is important to revisit because this is a question that you should be asking yourself over and over again in your life. You have probably heard me say that if you are growing in your life then you are always going to be under construction. That means that there will always be problems that arise in your life that you need to deal with. So if there are problems in your life that come about then you can’t just ask yourself this question and fix the problem one time and expect to be done with it. The problems will resurface and revisit you if you turn a blind eye to them. You are not a finished project. But don’t be discouraged by me saying that. That should actually be an exciting thing to hear because that means you always have an opportunity to grow and evolve in your life. If there are problems in your life then you can smile because you will not have to stay in those problems. You can learn to fix them and grow from them.
Sometimes we get so caught up in and stuck on this one thing in our lives that ends up pulling our lives down. We get so stuck that we can’t see anything else and it actually keeps us from growing or seeing any possibilities other than that one thing. For me in my life it was football. I always thought that the only thing I could do was football and if that didn’t work out then I would do nothing and be nothing. The problem with that mindset is that it does not allow for possibilities that you can’t even see yet. There are so many things that you could do in your life that you do not even know about right now. I had not imagined that I would become a speaker when I was focused on football. That is all I saw and I was certain that if football fell through then that would be it for me and I might as well give up on ever being anybody or accomplishing anything worthwhile, but clearly I was very wrong.
If I could tell you one thing that you would take with you it would be this: Your current situation is not your final destination. There are so many possibilities that lay in front of you it is not even funny. There are so many things that you could be. I do not want you to get caught up on just one. Don’t get me wrong, if you want to focus hard on one thing and work hard on that thing to accomplish your goals then that can be really good. The point I am trying to make here is that you don’t want to go too far with that drive and start to believe that your worth is tied to it. You still have something to offer even if what you thought you had to do doesn’t end up being your path. Leave some room for the possibilities.
It all starts with you.
