Straight up. Today is a day that I know can help change your life forever. If you truly hear and understand what I am saying, your life will change forever. This year was one of the hardest years of my life. I learned something this year. I learned that we’ve been lied to about how much time we have. There’s a lie that tells us we have so much time because it feels like something we have always had.
I know that you know this, but I want you to really understand this. You don’t have time. You don't’ have next year, you don't’ have next month and you don’t have tomorrow. All that you have right now. Just to be real with you, you have to know that “forever” has an expiration date. “Forever” will come to an end. You don’t have forever with your mom. You don’t have forever with your Dad, your loved ones, your kids. No matter how much power you have or money you have, time is something you can never have more of. All you have is right now.
I realized this year that my “forever” with my mother came to an end. My “forever” with my Grandmother came to an end. I was at my mother’s grave site and I was wishing that I had more time. I was wishing that I had more moments. No matter how much I wished. No matter how hard I prayed, I couldn't get more time with my mom. I couldn’t get more time with my Grandmother.
There’s going to come a time when you don’t have the chance to have another memory. There’s going to come a time when you don’t have the chance to apologize to the people in your life. We live under the illusion that we can put off the important things until the right time. Now is the right time. Live your life now. Love the people in your life now. Don’t wait for tomorrow- you don’t have tomorrow. Don’t wait for next month- you don’t have next month.
Don’t get to the end of your life to realize that you wasted your life. Don’t wait for another new year to come for you to have your new year. Right now is your new year. Why not? Because there will be a time when forever reaches an expiration date.
I’m not trying to put fear in your mind. I am trying to put reality on your mind. I want you to spend a minute or ten minutes on your purpose today. For every minute you spend comparing your life, I want you to spend ten minutes appreciating your life. I want you to have the most from your life, because you don’t have time. I am not trying to say this to bring you extra anxiety in your life, I am trying to kindle the flame of healthy urgency. It’s time to create greatness in your life, it's time to repair those relationships, it's time to forgive and move on because there will be a time when there is no more time.
It all starts with you.
