You’re Missing The Purpose
I get this question all the time. Someone will reach out to me and tell me that they know their purpose and they are pursuing it but they are having trouble breaking through. They are having trouble making the impact that they want to be making with their purpose. People ask me “how did you break through? There were others that wanted the same thing you have and you are the one that got it, how do you do that?”
I want to tell you three things that are going to change your life if you let them. Write these down-
- Belief. When it comes to making an impact, you have to have to truly believe in what you are doing. I’m not talking about 20% belief, not 70% - I’m talking about 100% belief in what you are doing. If someone tells you about a restaurant that they experienced and they tell you “it was alright. Not too bad.” You’re not going to be sold on wanting to go there. But if someone says “this place was fire. I wanted seconds, I’ll be going there again as soon as I can,” then you are going to be much more inclined to go check it out. Why? Because they believed in it and made you believe in it. I see this all the time, people who are pursuing what they think is their purpose but they don’t fully believe in it, and so others don't either.
- Connection. I believe this is a big part. How you have a connection is that you are authentic. You have to be real and relatable. You have to be transparent about your life because what’s most personal is most universal. I’m not afraid to talk about my insecurities, I’m not afraid to talk about the mistakes I’ve made in the past because I know that we all make mistakes. You have to be authentic to be able to truly connect.
- Uniqueness. There has to be something about you and your personality that stands out. I’m not going to tell you what that is but you have to be able to pinpoint it and lean into it. I know that for me, it’s that I am passionate and that shines through. People are not going to connect with you if you don’t work on what it is in your personality that is unique. If you don’t know where to start, ask your friends and family about what it is that connects with other people and don’t ignore what they tell you.
Use these as a guide to your success. Apply them to your purpose and never stop pushing. You’ve got this.
It all starts with you.
